Well, Garrison survived his first round of vaccinations. Um, I actually think the shots hurt me more than they hurt him. He cried for a second while he was getting poked but as soon as I picked him up he was fine. That's when I got tears in my eyes! I am such a wimp. Then I proceeded to have a little mental freak out about autism. I don't even want to put my fear down on this blog because it scares me so much. And it's so weird because over the past few months I had this faith that everything was going to be okay with going with the normal vaccine schedule. That if Garrison was supposed to be healthy he would be, and if not, that's the way it was supposed to be too. I guess my fear just over took the faith at that moment. I hate it when that happens. Right now I'm feeling okay about it all...I just need a nap!
Speaking of naps, here's a picture of Garrison after the appt. Wiped out!
So our sweet boy weighs 12 lbs. 3 oz. and is 23 inches long. That's the 75 percentile for both. At his 2 week check up he was in the 50 percentile so he's definetly growing fast! The doctor checked his motor skills and said they are at the level of a 4 month old. Wow! We just knew he was advanced :) He's able to hold his head up steady, do a mini push up while on his tummy, and also able to bear the weight of his body on his chunky thighs. We've now decided to have the personal trainer work with him only 3 days a week since he is progessing so well. Haha. Just kidding!
After the appt. we ran into my friend, Kelley, and her cute little girl, Vivian, in the waiting room. Houston may be a huge city, but it's a small world sometimes. It was definetly nice to see a friendly face after the trauma just moments earlier. It always amazes me how God gives me just what I need when I need it.
We then proceeded to travel 2 floors down to go visit the beloved office of my OB, Dr. Cook, to show off Garrison. When I went a couple weeks ago for my check up the nurses gave me a hard time about not bringing him, so I promised I would stop by. And, I'm not gonna lie, I really miss not going there so often anymore! All the nurses and doctors thought he was so cute :) Too bad Dr. Cook was on a conference call and couldn't meet him. Oh wait, he already did!
Well, that nap is really calling my name.

Daycare and more
So Garrison and I just went to his daycare to pay the enrollment fee and check out the classroom one more time. Let me tell you, I cried on the way there and on the way back. Geez! And it wasn't like it was a bad experience when I got there either. Everyone is so nice and the classroom was great. They had 4 babies in there and will have 6 when Garrison starts. They all seemed very content and playfull.
It's just that I'm really sad I have to go back to work and not be able to spend my days with our son. I keep telling myself that I just have to go back and give it a try. As long as I put it in non-permanent terms I feel a lot better. And the thing is, I'm sure once I'm back everything will be fine.
On another note, Garrison is still our champion sleeper. He's had a couple nights over the past week where he's only slept 6 hours in a row, but I am definetly not complaining. Over the weekend he slept almost 11 hours one night!!! We are just thrilled :)

Another awesome update about our little man...he's smiling and making noises other than cries. It just makes my heart melt when he's cooing away and looking up at us smiling. Hopefully I'll get a picture of that gummy smile very soon!
Garrison would also like to wish his buddies Elle Ehlert and William Doyle a very happy 1st birthday!

Sleep, sleep, and MORE sleep!
Well this has been a big week in the DiCarlo household...Garrison started sleeping through the night! It's been three nights in a row that he has slept at least 7 hours without waking...WOO! HOO! I am really hoping this is the new norm, but I'm not gonna hold my breath. The 2nd night he actually slept 10 hours...too bad I didn't take advantage because I was too busy going into check on him to make sure he was still breathing!! I'm sure it won't take too long to get used to it though :)
So I'm thinking that our new bedtime routine has really helped him to understand when his bedtime is as opposed to naptime. We started it about a week ago...this is how it goes...a walk in the stroller, bath, boob, bedtime.
We are just so proud of our little boy - he sleeps in his crib, is able to fall asleep on his own, and understands that night time is for SLEEPING!
I'll keep you posted if things change...

Beautiful boy
My friend, Jane Foster, who I've known since freshman year of high school took some awesome pics of Garrison when he was a month old. She did such a great job! She's starting her photography career and definetly has serious talent. Thank you Jane!

Garrison's first swim!
Happy 1st Father's Day!
It was awesome celebrating Bryan's first Father's day. He is such an awesome dad and just loves Garrison so much. And Garrison definetly loves his daddy too. They have so many sweet moments together. Bryan, being the supportive guy that he is, sends me off to bed and does the first night feeding. It's their special one on one time and Garrison just eats it up. He can't seem to take his eyes off his silly daddy. He even holds Bryan's finger when eating. Sooo cute!
We went out to my parent's house for the day and it was so nice. Here are some pics...

Come one come all...
I decided to open up the blog so that anyone can view it. A lot of people were having trouble seeing it and well, I'm just so excited for everyone to check out our little man :)
From the looks of this pic, Garrison is very excited...haha.

Outings!
So Garrison and I try to get out of the house at least once every day. This is to maintain Mama's sanity because she really doesn't do well hanging out in the house all day! Some day's it's just a walk at Rice or running an errand and other days we do more exciting things...like actually go visit people :) Here's some pics of some recent outings.
Hanging out at Gigi and Pops! My mom and I just cracked up at how relaxed he gets being outside!
Cute little toes in the water!
Our little water baby
Still sleeping :)
We went over to our friend Lindsey's. She had Geoffery 3 weeks before Garrison was born! Here are the sleeping boys with Geoffery's big sister, Reagan.
This pic just cracks me up! The 2 were just wiggling around totally unaware of each other!
We went to a BBQ that one of my coworkers had. Here's my boss, Susie, (or Auntie Sue as she likes to be called!) holding our little man.
Garrison's 1st trip to the Zoo...too bad he slept the whole time! Thanks for inviting us Kathleen!
Still sleeping :)
