We're having a baby BOY!!! Dr. Cook confirmed it today and we are so excited. Now all we have to do it figure out what we're gonna call him!
The doctor said everything looks great so we're feeling pretty good about things :) We go on January 20th to get the "big" ultrasound at the hospital. That's where an ultrasound tech will measure the baby and make sure things are coming along okay. We'll get some awesome pics from that visit!
I'll post the pic from today a little later...

Week 13 Ultrasound
So I wanted to get our last ultrasound pics up before we go tomorrow and get new ones. I think it will be awesome to see how much the baby has grown!
Today has been so nice...I took the day off and am LOVING not being at work. I can't say I have much to show for the day but relaxing was definetly the point! I'm going to run a few errand in a bit and make some YUMMY Pecan Snowball cookies this evening...so the day won't be a complete waste. I may even get a workout in! Haven't done that in a while. I could definetly get used to being a stay at home mom-to-be!

Week 16 belly shots!
Finally! Another belly shot posting! It has definetly grown A LOT since the last pics. I'm actually starting to look pregnant and not just chunky...YAY! It's just so cool to see my body totally change. Well, hopefully not totally, but you know what I mean :)
I went to Motherhood (a great maternity clothing store) last week and got some cute maternity clothes, so I'm feeling more attractive these days. It's hard to feel cute when your clothes aren't doing anything for you! I'm so grateful the current maternity styles are so cute...no tents for this lady!
We go back to the doctor on Tuesday and we are SO excited! This is the longest span of time we haven't gotten an update on our baby...4 whole weeks! We'll find out for sure what we're having and get to see how much the little one has grown. And by the looks of my stomach...it's a lot. I'll definetly post the new ultrasound pics.
Last night I went to a Christmas party a few of my friends hosted. It was so much fun! I love that several of the girls have little ones at home and offer so much support. It's awesome to be able to share this time with friends that have already been through it. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have them! My friend, Kathleen, even offered to take me to a lactation class once the baby is born. How great is that?!
On another note, this pregnancy is doing a number on my immune system. I read somewhere that a woman's immune system decreases during pregnancy so that it doesn't fight off the baby. I'm definetly noticing that I'm getting sick more. In the past month I've gotten a couple colds and yesterday I came down with a bad eye infection. Yuck! After a trip to the urgent care clinic at 2 in the morning I got some medicine and am feeling much better. It still looks like some one hit me in my eye, but it's definetly an improvement!
More to come next week!

A little flutter
Well, I think I felt the baby move! I actually felt a little flutter a couple weeks ago but forgot to mention it. Then it happened again last week. So amazing! A friend of mine told me it would feel like a little butterfly and it definetly did. I can't wait until I'm feeling him move around more. And I really can't wait until the day Bryan can feel it.
This whole pregnancy thing is such a blessing. Every week things are changing and growing. The books say the baby is now about 4 inches long and can move every joint in it's body. We just can't wait until our next visit (on the 23rd) to see the little guy again!!!
Other than that, I feel like I have nothing to wear. I'm in that in between stage where my clothes aren't really fitting, but most maternity clothes are too big. I have started wearing maternity pants, which are way more comfortable! I was blessed to receive a ton of maternity clothes from friends, but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get some of my own too. I think I could use a little retail therapy as well :)

There's really a baby in there!
Bryan and I went to the doctor this morning and it was AWESOME! I am still just so happy and excited. They did an ultrasound - this time they could do it from the outside since the baby has gotten big enough. Sorry if that's too much information :)
The baby has grown SO much! I mean it actually looks like a baby now! We got several great pictures so I can't wait to share them with everyone.
So when Dr. Cook was doing the ultrasound he said it was too early to tell the sex. BUT a few moments later he got a good shot of the pelvic area and asked if we wanted to know what we were having. We said sure! He pointed to the hip sockets and then pointed in the middle where there was a little something hanging down. Yep, that's right...it's most likely a BOY! He also said it's too early to tell for sure, but he seemed pretty certain. So now I'm convinced it's a boy. WOW! We totally thought we were having a girl. But now there will be a big brother when we do have a girl! I love it. I'm just SO happy.
I think it will take Bryan a little time to adjust to the news but I know he's just going to love having a little boy. All the sports and tools and just boy stuff they get to do together. He's gonna be such an awesome Dad.
Well, our next thing on the to do list is talk about boy names...since we haven't agreed on a single one!

13 Weeks Belly Shots!

I'm human again!
So I am feeling MUCH better this week. It actually started last week...my energy level has picked up a ton and the nausea is very minimal if any at all. YAY! I feel so grateful to be over the 1st trimester hump. Hopefully smooth sailing from here on out!
And I haven't forgotten about the updated baby bump pic (which is still small...but growing!). I'm hoping to get that taken this weekend. The problem is that Bryan and I don't have a digital camera yet...I think that's coming soon though! I'm doing the whole day after Thanksgiving shopping bananza so I'm sure I can find a good deal somewhere.
I'm really excited about next week. I just love Thanksgiving. It's so nice to get together with family, eat a lot of great food, and just relax. And the UT vs A&M game is actually on Thanksgiving day this year, so that's fun to look forward to as well. Although, I'm not sure how good of a game it's going to be. Bryan can't even stand to watch a whole A&M game because it's so upsetting. Maybe next year will be a better year...
Well, I'm so excited too because Bryan and I go back to the doctor on Tuesday of next week. Can't wait to see the ultrasound. Maybe the baby will actually look like a baby this time! I'll be sure to post updates next week.

Week 11!
I can't believe I'm almost a third of the way through this pregnancy. Crazy! I will get another belly shot this week.
Bryan and I went to the doctor last Tuesday and it was an awesome visit. Another ultrasound showed that the baby had grown a lot AND it was moving it's little arms! The doctor said she had never seen a baby so small move that much. I guess baby D is already exceptional :) It really was amazing to see. We saw the little heart beating too. Next time we'll have to make sure to get in one of the rooms with an ultrasound machine with sound so we can finally hear it. Can't wait!
So our baby is about 1 1/2 inches long at this point. It just amazes me that this little thing will grow into a 7-8 lb. baby! I'm hoping for more on the 7 lbs. side, but I was 8 lbs. so who knows?!
Well, I've been feeling EXHAUSTED pretty much 24/7. Aside from the normal pregnancy tiredness, I've been waking up every night at 2 in the morning and most nights not falling back asleep. Talk about miserable! My doctor perscribed me an antihistamine (safe for the baby, she assured me!) that helps with sleeping and nausea. It's been very helpful the couple times I've taken it. I'm thinking this new sleep schedule is God's way of preparing me for 2 AM feedings. Another friend thinks I may be having the baby at 2 AM...we'll see!

In loving memory
Bryan and I spent the weekend with his family for the wake and funeral of Maw Maw. It was a sad weekend but wonderful to see everyone. We will miss her so much. She was so kind, loving, and generous. Maw Maw welcomed me into her home and family and made me feel so comfortable from the very start. I'm so grateful I got to know her.

8 week belly shots!
So here I am 8 weeks preggers! Thanks Kathleen for taking such great pics. I'll hopefully post belly shots every couple weeks...I think it's so amazing to see it just grow and grow!
So my friend Lisa, who has a beautiful 3 month old baby boy, gave me a couple great books last night when I saw her...The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy and a week by week pregnancy book. I'm already loving The Girlfriend's Guide...hilarious and totally practical! I think I could read about pregnancy stuff all day long. There's just so much going on and really, I don't feel like I have a clue! I kind of feel like a stranger in my own body...everything is changing. But I'm not complaining because guess what?! I'm growing a baby! I do tend to complain about all the zits on my face though...who was it that said pregnant women glow? I have several craters on my face that are glowing, but I don't think that's what they were talking about!

The never ending appetite!
I have been HUNGRY all day long. I eat and I'm still hungry. It's crazy! But at least food sounds good today. I've been SO nauseous for the past week. Crackers and more crackers have been my best friend. And the occasional hamburger...I have been craving red meat! And I'm not usually a big red meat eater. I haven't been wanting sweets either and THAT is really strange for me. I love ice cream, cookies, cake, I could go on and on. I read that ice cream is a normal thing to crave...I'm just waiting for that one to kick in! But seriously, I'm trying not to gain a 100 pounds with this pregnancy, so maybe God's sparing me that one.
Well, I bought our first baby item this weekend. I went to eat at Cracker Barrel with a girlfriend and when we walked into the store part of the restaurant there was a big display of UT and A&M stuff. They had sippy cups, pillows, cheerleader outfits, and pacifiers, among other things. I thought I would be a good wife and buy the A&M pacifer. It felt so wrong as a loyal Longhorn to do that, but I knew Bryan would be so excited! And he was :) We've discussed not trying to push our children towards either school and letting them decide where they want to go...but of course I would love to have some little Longhorns! I'm sure there will be some UT stuff being purchased soon!
On anther note, my belly is definetly growing. It's not huge, but it's definetly big for me! All of my pants don't fit around my waist...in fact they haven't for the past 3 weeks. I've been wearing a lot of skirts and they've been fine. But today I had to unzip mine a little to make it comfortable...good thing I was wearing a long shirt!
I will be taking my first belly shot later this week...I'll be sure to post soon!

Our first blog!
So I've been encouraged to start a blog about my pregnancy and baby DiCarlo to come...so here it is! I think it will be awesome to chronicle this special time :)
And what an exciting time it is!!! Bryan and I are SO extactic about becoming parents. It's definetly something we've always wanted...just waited until the right time. We just feel so blessed and grateful that God decided now was the right time for us to start a family.
We went to the doctor yesterday and it was a really special visit. We got a due date and saw the heart beating! I think when we saw that, it really became real for both of us. Our baby has a beating heart...WOW.
It looks like a little nut, but what a cute nut! One of the doctor's in the practice printed the sonogram and Bryan is now carrying it around in his wallet. Love it! I think we'll have to have them print 2 next time :)
So they measured the fetus and gave us a due date of June 5th. So far away!!! I'm sure it will speed by though. It seems like time goes by faster and faster the older I get.
Well, I think that's it for the first blog...more to come!
